RESUM

This paper analyzes the geographic, cognitive, institutional, organizational, and social proximities among agents that have developed telehealth services in Mexico, in order to develop proposals regarding the challenges and opportunities these services entail. The methodology is based on an exploratory multiple-case study, comprised of three telehealth services located in different regions of Mexico (Mexico City, Oaxaca, and the State of Mexico) and with different trajectories. The paper confirms the relevance of a multidimensional analysis for addressing complex problems and solutions in the healthcare sector; it also presents public policy recommendations to promote technological integration, incentive generation, inter-institutional coordination, and capacity-building for regulation.
