About
Irene Monsonís Payá holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and a PhD in International Cooperation and Local Development. She is currently a Research Manager at INGENIO, a joint research institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
Her research focuses on the relationship between science and society.
During her doctoral studies, she explored the use of multi-criteria decision-making techniques to monitor science in relation to its social relevance, citizen participation, and the inclusion of environmental aspects. She later took part in the European research project POIESIS, which examined public trust in science, focusing on science communication processes regarding climate change and the COVID-19 crisis.
She is currently serving as Research Manager at INGENIO, supporting the implementation of the institute’s scientific excellence project within the framework of the CSIC’s DEEP-MaX program.
Her career has focused on the development of collaborative European research projects. She participated in the European Commission’s Blue Book Traineeship Program within the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, and has coordinated working groups within the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing.
