About
Adela García Aracil is Senior Researcher at the CSIC in the research institute INGENIO (CSIC-Polytechnic University of Valencia). She obtained her PhD in Economics at the University of Valencia in October 2003. She has extensive experience in the field of Economics of Education, specifically in the empirical analysis of the contribution of universities to their socio-economic environment, considering aspects of social innovation, knowledge transfer, the development of human-social-cultural capital skills, and the influence of AI on young people's learning objectives and their transition to work.
From 1999 to 2001, she worked at the World Bank in the Social and Human Development Department, and since then, she has been working as an external consultant. Her participation in the European projects CHEERS (IV Framework Programme) and REFLEX (VI Framework Programme) led her to begin her career in competencies (knowledge, skills and values) analysis and learning objective setting, leading her to lead competitive projects both nationally and internationally, such as the FOSTERC project (2016-2020), iSHRINK (2020-2023) and Virtual Hackathon (2021-2023) projects under the Erasmus+ programme, and projects such as 3E4Youth (2014-2016), SUISIA (2019-2021) and UTRANSFER (2024-2027) supported by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. She has published in prestigious international journals in the field of Social Sciences of Education.
She is an active member of the CSIC's Disaster and Emergency Advisory Group (GADE), where she is the Social Risks Coordinator. Appointment to the Advisory Committee. She has provided advice on the DANA in Valencia, the national power cut, the Garachico (Tenerife) volcanic drill and the wildfire recovery in Las Médulas (León).
In addition, she has collaborated in the Revitalisation and Training programme to promote the exchange and transfer of knowledge in the Spanish Innovation System (DINA Programme) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, promoting the use of active teaching methodologies through problem solving, the stimulation of creativity and critical thinking. Since the 2017/2018 academic year, she has been responsible for the course ‘Quantitative and Qualitative Techniques for Research’, a MOOC course on the edx platform, offered at the UPV in agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Since the 2022/2023 academic year, she has been a contributor to the course ‘Virtual Hackathon’, a MOOC course on the UPVx platform offered by the UPV.
As part of her ongoing collaboration with the University of Valencia, she is a member of the editorial team of the journal CEIR – Creativity and Educational Innovation Review and has created the CSIC's UTRANSFER Associated Unit at the University of Valencia through INGENIO, under the responsibility of Professor Rosa Isusi Fagoaga (UV). In addition, the UNIVERSITIS NETWORK was created and registered with the CSIC in 2022.
